Heather &
Darren Maertens
Darren grew up in
Detroit, Michigan. Heather grew up in southern
Maryland. Their paths crossed while attending Gem City
College in Quincy, Illinois. Darren was studying
jewelry repair, Heather was also studying jewelry
repair, as well as jewelry design and hand engraving.
After finishing their jewelry programs, the two moved
back to Heather’s hometown. They were married in
September 2000. Working separately, Heather in
southern Maryland, Darren in Annapolis they decided to
open a store of their own and chose Solomons as the
ideal location.
Darren has also studied
at the Gemological Institute of America and has
completed his degree in Diamonds and Colored Stones.
Darren is actively involved in many local
organizations including the Calvert County Chamber of
Commerce, the Rotary Club of Northern Calvert, and the
Solomons Business Association.
Heather too has studied at the Gemological Institute
of America, she has taken several design and repair
courses as well as completed a course in gemstone
identification. |
